Numerical and Experimental Simulation of Hydraulic Fracture Propagation Mechanism in Conglomerate Formation Based on Hybrid Finite-Discrete Element Method

Hydraulic fracturing was the main technology to achieve economic development of conglomerate reservoirs, knowing that hydraulic fracture propagation mode great significance for improving reservoirs. This paper proposed a new method understand behavior based on hybrid finite-discrete element method. The simulation indicated complex network created near wellbore in studied reservoir, and around gravel layer failure when reached layer. From simulations, it shown under small differences horizontal stress tensile strength, propagated more easily layer, while could cross large strength. Greater strength can reduce complexity network. In addition, higher pumping rates viscosities fluid contribute also produce crosses is met. reason rate viscosity obtain net pressure, which ensure
